There aren't many who have achieved the feat and even Thai snooker great like Ratchapol Pu-Ob-Orm (James Wattana) have done it only once in his long career.
There was no secret the Supoj had entered the final as a pre-match favourite and he lived up to the expectations of the large local army of snooker fans, who had thronged the venue since Day One on August 19.
Suopj, who had won his first national title in 2007, had played brilliantly throughout the tournament, compared to his younger opponent who is now on a comeback trail and still remains a pale shadow of his best.
Fireworks that were expected from the two finalists never materialised, but the two were still able to produce some quality snooker that kept the crowd engrossed in the match throughout.
With the exception of two frames, all were evenly contested with Kobkit surprisingly opting to go for safety shots more often than he normally does.
Supoj picked the first frame on the black and also did not have a cosy time in clinching the second.
He was a bit more in control in the third to open up a wide 3-0 margin.
Kobkit then showed the crowd that he can score freely when opportunity comes his way and produced a break of 92 to take the fourth frame.
However, that proved to be Kobkit's last hurrah as Supoj walked with the next two frames to win the match and the crown.
Supoj received the winner's prize of 100,000 baht to go with a purse of 15,000 baht for scoring a break of 128 points, the highest of the tournament. Kobkit was richer by 60,000 baht by the end of the day.
The SangSom Nong Khai Cup was the sixth and final event of the 2009 professional circuit and the event is considered as national championship winner of which is granted the automatic right to represent the country in several international events.
